Assisted natural regeneration and restoration with intentional enrichment planting is adding choice plants to areas to accelerate restoration and to target specific and exceptional benefits.
In these cases, we aspire to emulate Nature’s processes and patterns to increase productivity and benefits while improving environmental habitat. When we align with Nature’s inherent tendency to re-forest and we look to harmonize within that pattern, we follow the innate design of Nature – which leans toward self-sustainability – allowing us to minimize ongoing labor and financial inputs.
Intentional enrichment includes adding plants with specific benefits. For example:
- plant species that offer a variety of benefits, including protection, biomass, nutrient accumulation, moisture retention, pollinator and wildlife habitat, etc.
- food-yielding plants
- plants that offer therapeutic benefits
- plants that yield additional, income-based products
- flowering plants that display beauty
- and more!
